The State Water Commission for Well-Being (Ceabien) and the Drinking Water and Sewerage Services Operating Agency (Soapa) announced on November 6, 2026, that the drinking water supply to the Villas Geo Hacienda Blanca residential development in San Pablo Etla would be suspended until further notice.

Pumping equipment failure and water deliveries by tanker truck

The agencies attributed the interruption to a failure in the pumping equipment at Hacienda Blanca's elevated water tank. They explained that the equipment, which was more than 20 years old, had suffered burned components and would need to be replaced.

As an alternative during the suspension, Ceabien and Soapa announced that water would be supplied to users in the residential development by tanker trucks, known locally as pipas.
